Acceptable Use Policy

Rewound is for sharing clips of your own gameplay. This page says, in plain language, what may not be shared through it and what may not be done to it. It applies to everything uploaded, including anonymously, and it is part of the Terms.

Do not upload

• Sexual content involving minors. There is no threshold, no context and no appeal. We report it to Cybertip.ca and to police, and we preserve the evidence.
• Other sexual content. This isn’t a platform for it, and clips play inline in other people’s chat windows.
• Real violence, injury or death. Gameplay is fine. Footage of real people being hurt is not.
• Harassment, threats, or personal information. Someone else’s name, address, workplace, phone number or accounts, shared without their agreement — including in a clip’s audio or on-screen.
• Other people, without asking them. A screen recorder catches whatever is on your screen: a stranger’s voice chat, a friend’s webcam, a DM window, someone’s face. If a real person is identifiable in your clip and they didn’t agree to being in it, don’t share it here. Trim it or leave it out.
• Pretending to be someone else. Another player, a streamer, a company, or us. That includes a handle or a clip title chosen to make people think a clip came from someone it didn’t.
• Content that is illegal where you are or where we are.
• Material you don’t have the right to share. Copyright runs through the process on our Copyright page.
• Malware, or files pretending to be video. Uploads are checked, and anything that isn’t a real video file is rejected.

Do not do

• Use the service as general file hosting, as a content delivery network for something else, or as a way to spread links.
• Work around the limits — patching the app to declare false video parameters, making devices or accounts to reset a quota, or scripting views to keep a clip from expiring. All of it is checked on our side.
• Automate access. No scraping, crawling, bulk downloading, or scripting the site or the API beyond what the app does normally. Uploads are for clips you recorded, not for a program to feed.
• Sell, rent, or share an account, or use someone else’s. An account belongs to one person.
• Come back after a ban under a new account, a new device, or a new address.
• Attack the service — probing for holes, overloading it, or getting at anyone’s data but your own. If you find a real security problem, tell us at support@rewound.gg before you tell anyone else. We’d much rather hear it from you.
• Report clips falsely, or in coordination, to get them hidden.

What happens if you do

Clips reported by three different people stop being served while a person reviews them. A clip reported as illegal stops being served on the first report. We’d rather hide something wrongly for a few hours than serve the alternative. Hidden isn’t deleted: if the review clears it, the same link works again.

Strikes attach to your account and to the device, so signing out doesn’t clear them.

If you think we got it wrong

Write to support@rewound.gg with the clip link and what you think happened. Every moderation decision is logged with its reason, so there’s something to check against. A person reads every appeal and answers it. If we were wrong, the strike comes off and the clip goes back.

Reporting something

Every clip page has a report link and no account is needed. We don’t send updates on individual reports — partly because most reporters aren’t signed in and there’s nowhere to send them, partly because “we removed it” is a useful thing for the wrong person to learn.
